Ghostbusters news has been pretty focused on the Xbox/PS3 versions of the game as of late, so for those of you hankering for some content to oogle on the Nintendo side, here’s your chance! This “first twenty minutes” video will take you through a short intro, a small tour of the firehouse, and show off
Okay so it’s another hack method…but I’m sure the readers of our site are smart enough to make this work for them if they really wanted that extra storage space. Apparently someone has figured out a way to let you attach an external hard disk drive to your Wii.
“The incredibly savvy Matrix team has exclusively lifted the lid on their upcoming product - the WiiZii! The MatrixWiiZii is a completely solderless plug and play modification which works on ALL Wii versions. Once installed, the WiiZii allows you to do all the things you’d expect from a Wii modification device but brings with it one incredibly special feature - the ability to connect an external HARD DISK DRIVE drive (via SATA) and enjoy super quick loading of ISO and homebrew files on the Wii. But thats not all, this intelligent pice of kit also comes with 2MBit of memory and its firmware can easily be updated in the future. Some might say this is all just to Easy, we mean WiiZii! Click the image below to see a WiiZii prototype installed into the Wii. More details will follow next week!”
I like to watch a lot of tutorials and other flash and Quick Time videos. The problem is it’s very hard for me to sit in my computer chair and watch a two hour tutorial in flash format. So i came across MPlayerWii by ronwarez over at wiibrew.org.
It is an audio/video player that runs on the wiihomebrew channel. It supports the following formats (AVI, WMV, MKV, OGM, MP3, FLV (Flash Video), MP4, M4V, QuickTime, 3G) All I have to do now is, transfer all my tutorials over to my SD card or usb drive, pop the SD card into the wii and watch them from my couch.
Installation of the MPlayerwii is a snap (You do need the homebrew channel installed ) the first way is to:
-unzip the package into the “apps” folder on your SD card.
-place the “mplayerwii.conf” file on the root folder of your SD card.
-place video and audio files on the root folder of your SD card.
-launch MPlayerWii through the Homebrew Channel.
Or if you have the homebrew channel browser you can just install it from there ( that’s what i did)
You can get all the files and more info here MPLayerWii
Are you tired of Wii Music and felt it could have been a lot better? Check this out then. There is a program out there that works with your Wiimote, Nunchuck, and Balance Board in order to accurately represent a real drum kit! I was impressed with the video they showed, and I am sure you will be impressed by it too. What the program Wii Drum High does is connect your Wiimote, Nunchuck, and Balance Board to the PC via Bluetooth and registers your movements as if playing for real.
Teknecal from wiibrew.org has released the “homebrew channel browser” and I must say “WOO HOO” !!! What a time saver. The homebrew browser allow you to download, and install homebrew applications through the homebrew channel ( of course the wii must be conected to the internet ). No more loading your SD card with the wiihomebrew application from your computer, puting the SD card back into your wii, and then installing the homebrew. All you have to do is browse the applications via homebrew channel browser and install.
Uninstalling is just as easy, so you can remove homebrews you no longer want with one simple click. No more dead links, no more extracting files, no more finding out that the homebrew application doesn’t include an icon.png and meta.xml in the zip file! The browser also offer auto updating, so it will never be out of date.
Well I was planning on creating a video on how to install the homebrew channel on your wii, but as always time is not on my side. So I found what I think is the best video tutorial on ” Installing the homebrew channel on your wii“. This guy did an excellent job on the video!
bellow I have listed the items that you will need and if you have any questions let me know and I’ll try and help you the best I can:)
PLEASE NOTE: i’m not responsible for you messing up your wii in the atempt of installing this channel. Just follow the directions in the video, and be sure to read the “read me “ files in the installer file, and you should be fine!!!
What you will need to install the homebrew channel on your wii:
A few months ago my son was playing with his G.I. Joes over on the entertainment center. Not thinking of anything of it, I left the room and heard a loud bang. I ran back into the living room and seen my son standing over the wii which was now on the floor. i plugged it in and try to turn it on everything seemed fine, until i tried to insert a game disc, and it would spit it right back out at me. Sadly I worked over time at work for the next two weeks in order to save up to buy another wii.
Since then my son has learned to stay clear of the entertainment center. I was planning on selling the broken wii on ebay as parts, but came across a Wii repair manual it was $9.99 plus like $2.00 for shipping. I thought “what the heck” and ordered it. To my surprise a few hours later i get an email with a download link to my wii repair manual, I was like “SWEET!!” ( I hate waiting for stuff in the mail)
I opened up the PDF and started reading. It is very easy to read, has very detailed pictures, and covers EVERYTHING!! From error codes, drives that wont read discs, and tons more. The repair manual even has tons of mods that you can do. So i was able to fix my wii and now am selling a refurbished Wii instead of a broken wii for parts. A few days later I received a CD in the mail with the Wii repair manual on it.
So in conclusion i HIGHLY recommend all wii owners to have this book. For only $10.00 it could save you some money, or just use to mod your Wii.
I bought a wii modchip a few months, but things didn’t work out. It’s not easy to open your wii, it’s plastic so you can break it easily. Once I opened it I really couldn’t get the thing on. I tried soldering it for about an hour but something would always turn out wrong. I got very frustrated and ended up with $70 worth of unused modchip.
I’d heard of ConsoleModder.com a few times before I went ahead and gave it a try. At $15 it’s a lot cheaper than the wii modchip I got, and delivery was a lot quicker. As soon as I payed for it I was taken to a page to download the software, the page also had detailed instructions to use the software.
The program itself is simple. You simply plug in your SD drive, select it, and click Configure Card. Once it pops up a message letting you know it’s done you simply remove your card and put it in your Wii. The whole thing is done with in 5 minutes.
Once you have your console modded you can use the wii dvd player, use it to play wii backups, play free original games made for the Wii, and use cheats on your Wii games.
It’s by far the best wii mod chip to date. With DVD players costing upwards of $100 it’s a bargain to convert your wii to play DVD for only $15. If you’re looking to mod your console then consolemodder.com is definitely they way to do it
Sometimes you’d really start thinking that hackers have the power to do anything! This Wii-gamer managed to play WiiWare-games using his homebrew channel on his Wii-console. Warning: Do not try this at home if you don’t want to risk the life of your precious Wii-system!
