We grabbed a snippet from SPOnG’s interview with Microsoft’s Chris Satchell, general manager, game developer group just awhile back, but the full interview wasn’t available. Today, you can now snoop through the entire 5-page interview for any Nintendo tidbits you can find:
SPOnG: What do you think to Nintendo’s strategy with WiiWare? Initially there was talk of independent developers, then you see companies like Square Enix with titles in the launch line-up. What do you think to the strategy?

This week no Virtual Console-releases for European gamers, but Nintendo added two new WiiWare-titles to the Wii’s Shop Channel. First game is Pop, the 700 Wii Points title in which you have to pop airbubbles, and the second game is My Pokémon Ranch, a 1000 Wii Points game in which you visit and make pictures of Pokémon.

Capcom gives us some extra information on the new Mega Man 9 title for Nintendo’s WiiWare Channel. The full Japanese title is Rockman 9: Revival of the Wild Ambition, but usually Mega Man-games don’t get a subtitle in America and Europe. There also appears to be a gray and black Mega Man, but it’s unclear what their role will be.

In an interview, Mike Pepe from Hudson recently said that we’re probably going to see two out of the three WiiWare-games already out in Japan (Blue Oasis, Karaoke Joysound and Alien Crush). Hudson will know which two titles within two to three months. The reason why we don’t have any specific info yet is that there’s a ton of other games coming from other developers to WiiWare as well. They’re all on a tight schedule…

Takahashi Meijin, Master Higgins himself, has announced that they are working on a new Adventure Island game. The game is probably in development for Nintendo’s WiiWare Channel. He doesn’t want the franchise to be ruined with motion-controls.

In a recent interview, CEO Dave Roberts and co-founder John Vechey from PopCap Games talked about the new WiiWare Channel from Nintendo.
You’ll see, actually, in a couple of announcements that we’ll have later on in the year where we’ve done some pretty cool collaborations with a company that really, really knows the space really well, and we think the collaboration will hopefully make it more interesting.
They’re defintely working on something, but what is that mysterious company and what games would they be developing for WiiWare? They’ve done some nice things for Xbox Live in the past, so we’re extremely excited!

High Voltage released a fact sheet of Gyrostarr and announced that this brand new WiiWare-title will be hitting American Nintendo Wii systems on Monday! For only 700 Wii Points you get a nice title packed with a lot of science fiction action and a multiplayer mode for up to 4 players. Friday means update time for the European Wii Shop Channel! This week Nintendo of Europe added two new WiiWare-games, but unfortunately there weren’t any new Virtual Console games. Block Breaker Deluxe is another variant on Arkanoid, and Cocoto Fishing Master looks like a really bad adventure/fish simulator.
WiiWare Releases
- Block Breaker Deluxe 800 Wii Points
- Cocoto Fishing Master 700 Wii Points

A portion of a GameSetWatch interview with Edmund McMillen, co-creator of Gish…
GSW: Has Reggie called you back yet? (in reference to the video where Edmund records himself attempting to contact the Reggienator)
EM: Heh, a few weeks after that video went up we got a call from Nintendo. It wasn’t Reggie but it was someone high up in the ranks there who wanted to talk about WiiWare, and we are still talking to him. That’s about all I can say.
Our goal is to get on all consoles, and we would love to launch on Steam… I can say we are currently talking to them all, but won’t have any info till we have Gish 2 further in development.
