“I’m definitely interested in WiiWare and I think it’s one of the areas that 2D can still be very strong at. I’m very much looking into that.” - Koji Igarashi, Castlevania head-honcho
Well, hopefully we’ll get away from the Castlevania fighters, and get back into the 2D castlevania games. Personally, I don’t care if they come out on WiiWare as long as they’re good games.

Kijo Igarashi is the man in charge at Konami for the Castlevania-franchise. In an interview, the man strongly hints to a Castlevania game for the Wii:
I think that development for 2D in regards to the Wii or any other system is very difficult to do right now, but there are other avenues we can use to explore the 2D progression of Castlevania such as WiiWare or downloadable content and whatnot. So no, I don’t think it’s really a dead thing.
Thanks to WiiWare 2D gets a second life, even in times of high definition 3D-games with super high quality graphics. Looks like we can expect some vampire hunting action on WiiWare soon!
