Here is one of the most overlooked RPGs in history. Released for the SNES during Square’s golden years of making RPG games, Secret of Mana is a wonderfully charming, yet extremely engaging game that will take you on a journey that will be remembered for the rest of your life. Maybe the underlying story isn’t the deepest it could be, but the overall presentation of that storyline makes gives an epic feeling that can only be matched in its time by the SNES Final Fantasy series. What makes Secret of Mana different than most Square titles is its battle system, which is a mix between Zelda and Final Fantasy.
The main hero starts off as a young kid hanging out with some friends on a random log above a waterfall. Somehow he falls off the log and finds this magical sword stuck on some rock. So he grabs it, which somehow releases all these monsters into the area. The town blames the kid for the new monsters appearing and that’s when you are set forth on your journey to make things right.
First of all, the soundtrack is AMAZING. Some of the music will make you want to go into a certain town just to hear that theme song. Check out one of the town themes Color of the Summer Sky on YouTube to see what I mean. Every song from Secret of Mana is just extremely creative and memorable. Read the rest of this entry »
Another puzzle game has been released on WiiWare?!There are a couple of sure things in life. The sun will come out at some point. The sky will always be blue.Puzzle games will be consistently released on WiiWare.WiiWare is home to tons of cheap, cash-in, puzzle games that will never be remembered (with the exception of World of Goo). There is one puzzle game though that seems to stand the test of time, no matter where or when it is released.Yes, I’m talking about Tetris. In this version of the legend of all puzzle games, there are plenty of single and offline multiplayer options to go around. The graphics are bright and fit the game. The familiar music everyone loves from the original Tetris is still there, but there are lots of other tunes as well. The only real letdown here was… Read the rest of this entry »
While browsing through the internet looking for some cool news to tell you guys, I found some interesting artwork instead. One of them shows what the original Super Mario Bros. would look like in 3D. The other shows a scene Super Mario Bros. 3 using pushpins. Now instead of making a still of Super Mario Bros. in 3D…I think he should go ahead and make a full game!
A few months ago my son was playing with his G.I. Joes over on the entertainment center. Not thinking of anything of it, I left the room and heard a loud bang. I ran back into the living room and seen my son standing over the wii which was now on the floor. i plugged it in and try to turn it on everything seemed fine, until i tried to insert a game disc, and it would spit it right back out at me. Sadly I worked over time at work for the next two weeks in order to save up to buy another wii.
Since then my son has learned to stay clear of the entertainment center. I was planning on selling the broken wii on ebay as parts, but came across a Wii repair manual it was $9.99 plus like $2.00 for shipping. I thought “what the heck” and ordered it. To my surprise a few hours later i get an email with a download link to my wii repair manual, I was like “SWEET!!” ( I hate waiting for stuff in the mail)
I opened up the PDF and started reading. It is very easy to read, has very detailed pictures, and covers EVERYTHING!! From error codes, drives that wont read discs, and tons more. The repair manual even has tons of mods that you can do. So i was able to fix my wii and now am selling a refurbished Wii instead of a broken wii for parts. A few days later I received a CD in the mail with the Wii repair manual on it.
So in conclusion i HIGHLY recommend all wii owners to have this book. For only $10.00 it could save you some money, or just use to mod your Wii.
Nippon Ichi Software, or NIS, has announced that they will be developing titles for Wii and WiiWare. Although what they are specifically working on hasn’t been announced yet, given their history in RPGs (Disgaea for example) they are bound to continue in that tradition.
One can imagine it would be similar to the streaming service that NetFlix currently provides to its customers. There is currently a way to hack your Wii into playing DVD movies (although I’m not certain if the latest 3.4 update has put an end to this). If you want to take the chance that it will work, the step by step directions are here.
I love wii boxing, so much that my hand would start to hurt, and fingers would cramp. Not to mention how hard i would hold the wii mote i know it would eventually cause it to break. So I decided to fork out a few dollars to get a pair of wii boxing gloves. Paying less then $20.00 i wasn’t expecting anything high quality, but i figured that i would keep the duct tape close by for when they would start to show wear and tear, I would just tape them up. So when they arrived in the mail i opened them up, and to my surprise they looked good! no cheap stitching it looked as if they will last me a while.
So i ran into my room threw on my American flag boxing shorts, looked over at my wife said ” Yo Adrian”, jogged out to the living room singing ” eye of the tiger” popped in my boxing game and started punching away. I must say what an improvement! No more hand cramping! Now I can play for as long as i want ( well until my arms get tired ) . So i recommend picking up a pair of these, if you like to play boxing on the wii for any extended period of time.

Also, the Wii Fit stock seems to continue to be on high demand as evidenced in this article that states it will surpass the sales of Grand Theft Auto 4 very soon. That is a very high achievement! Here is an excerpt from the article…
“Sales of “Wii Fit” are on track to surpass those of one of 2008’s most best-selling titles, “Grand Theft Auto IV,” by the end of the year, according to projections by Wedbush Morgan Securities. It’s a very popular game that’s in high demand, says Kyle Lamfers, customer assistant at Best Buy in Sioux Falls. “They’re very rarely here, and when they are, they’re gone quickly,” he says. “We haven’t been able to keep it in stock. We’ve had up to 150 in the store at once, and they were gone in a half an hour.”
One last thing. Here is a random picture of a cute female gamer enjoying working out with Wii Fit on a Wii that was set up where the game launched in New York. Isn’t she cute? Those women sure love their Wii!
